The Cyclops

The film tells the story of two brothers who are both preparing for the Summer Olympics in 1940. But then the Second World War shatters all their dreams. While the younger brother disappears during the war, the older one survives - physically and emotionally deeply wounded. Years later he still is unable to let the past go and comes to understand that in his innermost self he is still searching for his lost brother.

"The Cyclops" is a film ambitious in its narrative, a film that strongly appeals to emotions, a film about memories and dreams, about man's struggle to retain his soul. It tells about the pain which the generation of our parents and grandparents had to endure and which often is still haunting them even today.

It is director Jukka-Pekka Valkeapää's second film. With his debut film "The Visitor" he already proved his exceptional talent. "The Visitor" premiered at the "Venice International Film Festival" and won the "Nordic Film Award" for best film and the first prize for best cinematography in Gothenburg.
