Die Frau am Meer

Following her mother's advice, 43-year-old Marlene goes on holiday. The bleak Belgian coastal town she reaches, however, increasingly turns out to be a mirror of her own state of mind.

After suffering a burnout from her job as a geriatric nurse, Marlene had hoped to be able to recover and find some rest on her holiday. Seeing her hopes fail, she drifts off into a fantasy world, where she has to face her life and the symbiotic relationship with her mother. The deeper she enters into the remote world of the holiday resort, the further she moves away from returning to her former life.
