STOWAWAY
Joe Penna's first feature film made it straight to Cannes. In the competition of this year's Cannes Film Festival he presented his full length debut ARCTIC with a brilliant Mads Mikkelsen in the leading role.
Before that, Penna was mainly known for his science fiction short films and music videos, e.g. for DJ Avicii. He was an advertising director for major commercials including Coca Cola, Disney and Ford. His third short film TURNING POINT, which depicts a post-apocalyptic world on earth, was shown at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2016. In 2010 Penna was among the top 10 directors selected for the "Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors' Showcase" in Cannes.
On a mission headed to Mars, an unintended stowaway (Anderson) accidentally causes severe damage to the spaceship’s life support systems. Facing dwindling resources and a potentially grim outcome, a medical researcher (Kendrick) emerges as the only dissenting voice against the clinical logic of both her commander (Collette) and the ship’s biologist (Kim).
