THE FISHERWOMAN Wraps Filming

Principal photography for the survival thriller THE FISHERWOMAN, starring two-time Oscar® winner Emma Thompson, wrapped in Cologne at the end of April. Directed by Brian Kirk, the film also features Judy Greer and Marc Menchaca in leading roles. Filming began in late February in Koli, Finland, and concluded after three weeks at MMC Studios in Cologne.

Barbara Sorensen (Emma Thompson) sets out to fulfill her late husband’s final wish by scattering his ashes through an ice hole on a remote lake in Minnesota—the place where their love story began. Upon arriving in the icy wilderness, she witnesses a kidnapping and discovers a young woman being held captive in the basement of a backwoodsman (Marc Menchaca) and his wife (Judy Greer). Realizing she is the young woman’s only hope, Barbara risks everything to rescue her, leading to a relentless fight for survival.

Directed by Brian Kirk (GAME OF THRONES, 21 BRIDGES), the film stars Dame Emma Thompson (SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, THE CHILDREN ACT) as the Fisherwoman, Judy Greer (JURASSIC PARK, ANT-MAN) as the Purple Lady, and Marc Menchaca (OZARK, HOMELAND) as Camo Jacket. The cast also includes rising stars Laurel Marsden (MS. MARVEL) and Gaia Wise (A WALK IN THE WOODS). The screenplay was written by Nicholas Jacobson-Larson and Dalton Leeb.

THE FISHERWOMAN is produced by augenschein Filmproduktion (Maximilian Leo, Jonas Katzenstein) in collaboration with Stampede Ventures, co-produced with LEONINE Studios and ZDF. The film received support from the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, the German Federal Film Fund (DFFF), and Business Finland.

The theatrical release is scheduled for 2025, distributed by LEONINE Studios.
