BLOODY TENNIS to Screen Out of Competition at Locarno Film Festival

Nikias Chryssos' new horror feature BLOODY TENNIS, his first English-language film, will screenat the Locarno Film Festival.

Sophie is accepted into a prestigious tennis academy, where competition among her peers is fierce. As she copes with her rivals, she soon finds herself contending with sinister undercurrents within the school, until she is eventually forced to choose between fulfilling her dream of becoming a successful player and remaining a good person.

BLOODY TENNIS was written and directed by Nikias Chryssos (THE BUNKER, A PURE PLACE), marking his first English-language feature. Cinematography is by Constantin Campean (THE PROTECTED MEN, GRAND JETÉ), with editing by Anselm Koneffke, who previously worked with Chryssos on RAVE ON. The film stars Sandra Guldberg Kampp (WILDLAND, ELECTRIC CHILD) as Sophie, alongside Elina Löwensohn (SHE IS CONANN), Helena Zengel (TRANSAMAZONIA, SYSTEM CRASHER), Tracy Gotoas, Lily Taïeb (HOW TO BE A GOOD WIFE), Lucie Zhang (PARIS, 13TH DISTRICT), Vincent Roméo (GOOD FAVOUR), and Zlatko Burić (TRIANGLE OF SADNESS).

BLOODY TENNIS is a production of augenschein Filmproduktion (Maximilian Leo, Jonas Katzenstein) in co-production with Port au Prince Film & Kultur Produktion and ZDF - Das kleine Fernsehspiel. The film was shot in Gran Canaria and Cologne, Germany, and was supported by Film- und Medienstiftung NRW and the German Federal Film Fund (DFFF). Port au Prince will distribute the film in Germany, with The Playmaker handling world sales, alongside augenschein Sales.
